All My Sons Pittsburgh moving company has exciting news for cat lovers: Cat Cafés have recently gained popularity in major cities worldwide, and now Pittsburgh is joining in on the feline trend.
Former New Yorkers Sue and Erik Hendrickson are opening Colony Café, a cat cafe located in the Strip District. The couple says that they enjoyed plenty of Cat Cafes in New York, and knew Pittsburgh locals and cat lovers would enjoy the concept just as much.
This cat café in Pittsburgh is set up with a regular coffee shop downstairs, that serves wine, cocktails, and food. Upstairs there’s a cat loft, where 10 cats will be available for adoption or playtime. For those that are just there for the coffee – the cat loft is an entirely separate room, but the walls are glass so visitors can feel free to peek inside or enjoy from afar.
The cats will come from Animal Friends, a No-kill shelter offering a second chance to homeless, unwanted, and abused animals. Animal friends has collaborated with Colony Café to name the cats with wine or coffee themed names such as like Merlot, Bean, and Java.
The café has been designed so visitors can enjoy the company of cats while feeling like they are in the comfort of their living room. The Café charges $8 per one hour visit with the cats.
