Pittsburgh Ranks in Top Ten Cities for Beer Lovers

Pittsburgh is known as Steelers nation, but did you know this city is also beer lover’s heaven? Local Pittsburgh movers report that this city ranks amongst the top ten “beer cities” in the United States. What is a beer city? A beer city is a metropolitan area with at least one million residents that provides plenty of beer retailers (bars, restaurants, etc.) and breweries. This includes craft beer sales and microbreweries as well.

Infogroup, an analytics service, conducted a study that analyzed 15 million business database records to determine which metro areas are home to the highest number of beer retailers.  Pittsburgh ranks in the top ten cites to find a beer in the United States, following Milwaukee, Cincinnati, San Diego, Raleigh, Detroit, Seattle, Grand Rapids, Denver, and Portland at #1.

Not only did Infogroup’s study determine the best cities for residents to track down a beer, but it also analyzed the differences between beer lovers and wine drinkers nationwide. Interestingly, the study found that top ranking beer cities like Pittsburgh have higher percentages of homeowners, married households, families with children, and residents are more likely to own pets and eat at family restaurants. More findings show residents of beer cities are more likely to prefer country music for entertainment.
