Pittsburgh First to Have Self-Driving Uber Cars

How did Pittsburgh become one of the first cities to achieve a moment this grand in the technology world? It was not as if the transportation giant, Uber, has any major ties to the city. Either way, those who are moving to Pittsburgh will be happy to hear that the city will be the first to roll out self-driving Uber cars. Unfortunately, we are still far away from our long distance Pittsburgh moving vans being automated.

All My Sons Moving & Storage embraces technology. and loves to see changes like this making advancements and improvements in all of our lives.

For those who are moving to Pittsburgh, it may shock you to learn that Pittsburgh has been on the forefront of the automated car industry for almost three decades. Pittsburgh was one of the first cities to have a fully automated car assembly line, just like the ones we are used to seeing in automobile commercials.

Pittsburgh is one of the best cities in the world for studying robotics. Carnegie-Melon University has had one of the most compelling and brilliant robotics programs in the world. Pittsburgh long distance movers have been helping the best of the robotic industry in moving to Pittsburgh for years.

The initial test is self-driving Uber cars, and the hope is that a full scale roll out will take place in 2018. There are currently 100 Volvo XC90s moving through Pittsburgh. The sleek Volvos are part of a $300 million partnership that the car company has with Uber, which we will eventually see these vehicles out all over the U.S.
