Top Music Festivals to Check Out after Moving to Pittsburgh

While this metropolis cultivates a variety of artistic expression, one of its most developed forms includes the countless music festivals available during the summer. What’s more, Pittsburgh is a city sustaining a diverse population, and it responds by providing an eclectic set of performances. Listed below are a few of the top music festivals to check out after moving to Pittsburgh this summer.

Deutschtown Music Festival (July 8-9)  honors and provides representation for Pittsburgh’s local bands. Located on Northside, this is a chance for the underground groups to receive recognition. Meeting of Important People, Slim Forsythe, and The Garment District are all included in the lineup, along with many more local favorites. This is the chance for those who are moving to Pittsburgh to acculturate themselves to the local lifestyle.

WYEP Music Festival (June 25)  will be held this summer and is  free of charge. The event will host a series of indie bands and other popular favorites such as Margaret Glaspy, Boy & Bear, and Lucius. After moving to Pittsburgh, come out and meet other music aficionados like yourself, and savor the sound over a cold beer or an iced tea.

Three Rivers Arts Festival (June 3-12) is an annual event that includes music, handmade jewelry, and food. It takes place at Point State Park, and it includes some extravagant indie rock bands, such as Ibeyu and Michael Franti & Spearhead.

Feed More Festival maintains all of the cutting edge jazz and blues that attracted viewers to what used to be the Pittsburgh Blues Festival at Hartwood Acres, but it has amended one factor: the money now goes to families in need.It is sponsored by the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and comes highly recommended by the Pittsburgh movers at All My Sons, as a way of giving back to the community after moving to town.
