Where to Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Pittsburgh

For those who had to have Pittsburgh movers relocate all of their belongings during the holiday season, and who have just braved their first holiday season in their new home, there is one question that remains to be answered: what do we do with our Christmas tree?

Luckily, Pittsburgh has already answered that question by encouraging all residents to bring their Christmas trees to one of the nine regional parks to be recycled. All you have to do is make sure that your Christmas tree is free of any lights, decorations, tinsel or strands when you drop it off; the trees will then be ground into mulch and distributed throughout the park.

According to locals, new residents, and even your Pittsburgh moving company, the parks are making getting rid of their trees much easier than bringing it to a landfill, while still finding a way to reuse the trees. When longtime Pittsburgh resident, Bill Freeman, was asked how he felt about the issue, he responded that “I like this. It’s great. They don’t charge you.” Another Pittsburgh resident, Brett Kilby, believes that “it’s better than throwing it away.”

Have you decided that you would rather have your Christmas tree be reused instead of wasted? Then through January 16th drop it off at one of the parks between dawn to dusk.
